I quit posting to my blog last May because I was examining my feelings about “Information overload”. Struggling with ‘infowhelm’ myself, I needed time to examine what I was contributing to info overload, and if what I offered was valuable enough to share and if I wanted to continue sharing.
To be perfectly honest, it’s been terrific. I used this time to re-finish a bedroom set and re-paint the interior of my 2800 sq. ft. home (it looks and feels wonderful). I was on my computer less than an hour a day (more like 30 minutes to check e-mail and business orders). I cancelled most of the e-zines I receive and kept e-mail to a minimum. The delete key became my favorite key on the keyboard–it was so empowering!
What I discovered: in being extremely selective, I could really appreciate , value and enjoy the information I felt was really important for me to know. I still haven’t decided if I will continue to post on healthy choices which is a passion for me. If I do, it will be less often. I feel there is valuable health info in my blog and if someone needs it, it is available. But, there are lots of other health related sites to find the info a person is seeking.
If you have thoughts or ideas about this dilemma of too much info, I would enjoy hearing from you.
