Alkalizing Your Body For a Healthier You!

Litmus paperFeeding our bodies more alkaline foods is important for optimal health. There is evidence that most illnesses are due to acidity in our bodies. Studies have shown cancer thrives in an acidic environment and when you reduce acidity, the cancerous cells die off. Obesity and diabetes are also connected with a diet high in acidic foods.

Our typical American diet is far too high in acid producing foods like meat, eggs, and dairy and too low in alkaline producing foods like fresh veggies. Other highly acidic foods and beverages included processed foods (white flour and sugar), artificial sweeteners, coffee and soft drinks.

High acidity not only comes from the foods and beverages we ingest, but also emotional stress, and toxic overload from a variety of factors, including medications, chemicals and our environment.

To restore health, our diet should consist of 80% alkaline and 20% acid forming foods. For maintenance a balanced pH in our body consists of 60% alkaline forming foods and 40% acid forming foods.

Solution: Purchase some litmus strips to check the pH acid/alkaline balance in your body at your local drug store or order online: http://www.amazon.com/Phion-Alkalive-Litmus-Package-Saliva/dp/B000VRU4US

Healthier Choice: For information on foods which increase alkalinity and decrease acidity go to http://www.itsmyownhealth.com/ (alkaline foods are listed on the left and acid foods on the right).

Tried & True Tip: If you are highly acidic (as most of us are) begin with small ‘doable’ changes—maybe cut back on some foods rather than cutting them out altogether. Increase your veggie and alkaline fruit intake and monitor your saliva with the litmus strips to notice changes. Drink more water and fresh vegetable juices if possible.

  1. It’s great that you are sharing this information, I feel so much better when I keep my body alkalinized with both diet and exercise. Usually the lactic acid produced by exercise makes body pH acidic, that’s why I also do Body’Fit pH Fitness (short form… pHx. You might enjoy it. BodyFitLife.com
